Inspection / Survey – Barr & Clark helps property owners and managers meet their regulatory requirements to test suspect materials for asbestos prior to renovation, construction, or demolition activities. To ensure quality, our certified professionals perform all field work in accordance with OSHA, EPA and AHERA protocols. Following the asbestos survey, we provide a comprehensive report of findings that includes the locations, sample results, and quantities estimates for asbestos removal and assessment of all asbestos containing materials.
Project Designs / Abatement Plans – To help our clients obtain competitive prices from abatement contractors and to ensure the work is properly performed, Barr & Clark provides turnkey Asbestos Project Designs and Abatement Plans. Plans and specifications provide contractors with project requirements and well defined scope of work, ensuring success and prevention of change orders. Our goal on every project is to obtain highly competitive bids from only quality asbestos abatement contractors. We can assist in selection of an abatement contractor and reviewing competitive bids.
Operations & Maintenance Plans (O&M) – For all buildings with asbestos, the EPA recommends the development of an asbestos management program to communicate the locations of asbestos to appropriate parties and train building employees on how to work safely around the materials. Barr & Clark’s Operations & Maintenance Program (O & M Plan) is designed to help maintenance, custodial and outside contractor personnel recognize and respond to potential health risks from asbestos. The O&M Plan’s main objective is to outline all necessary methods and procedures for the protection of employees and/or tenants in the facility from potential airborne asbestos fibers. This
handbook will help implement control measures during daily maintenance. The O & M Plan will serve four purposes:
- Monitor and assess ACM condition.
- Outline necessary record keeping, including in-house maintenance/repair of ACM, and medical surveillance.
- Inform and train employees and outside contractors who may come in contact with ACM about the necessary safety and health precautions which should be utilized.
- Prevent future fiber release by controlling disturbance and preventing damage to any ACM.
Project Monitoring – Barr & Clark can coordinate and manage all aspects of the asbestos abatement project. Before the asbestos abatement work begins, our certified inspector ensures that the containment and decontamination facilities are properly constructed. During the abatement work, our project manger performs daily air monitoring inside and outside the containment area and observes the contractor’s activities to ensure the work is properly performed.
Clearance Testing – Once the asbestos abatement is completed and before the containment is removed, Barr & Clark’s certified inspector performs a visual inspection and air clearance testing inside and outside of the contained work area to ensure the area is safe for re-occupancy.
